YouTube Description Generator
A video description is the extended written content that accompanies the video and its metadata. Both YouTube and Vimeo support long video descriptions up to 5000 characters long.
Most videos uploaded to YouTube don't even come close to this limit. Having 5,000 characters doesn't mean you have to fill your description with keywords, you have to split the available number of characters into equal parts.

Why are YouTube descriptions important?
Like the video title, the video description serves two purposes. Provide relevant keywords for your video SEO and provide viewers with descriptive text about your video. The video description can also provide a natural path to other chapters in the video, website links, social media links, other video links, or additional literature/resources.
Unless you're an approved partner in the YouTube Partner Program (with at least 1,000 subscribers), you can't add interactive call-to-action (CTA) annotations from videos directly to your website.
So the only other way to add a link is in the video description.
What should I write in my YouTube description? By default, when a video is first uploaded, the video description on YouTube is truncated to the first 3 lines (approximately 280 characters).
Vimeo's video description truncation is much larger at 750 characters.
However, as YouTube dominates online video, you should make sure that the most important words are listed in the first three lines of your description.
It's worth noting that truncated video descriptions are only visible to computer users.
Mobile users don`t see any of the Video Description by default and must choose to expand them

Adding value to the viewing experience
When it comes to helping your viewers understand more about your video and who you are, we suggest splitting your Video Description up into 7 main sections:
1. About the Video (approx 500-1,000 chars): Remember, the first 3 lines are the most important so make sure your target keywords appear here and that you describe the video in a way that aligns to how people are likely to be searching for your topic/subject. After that, feel free to elaborate on additional secondary information or details about what the video covers. Don't forget to put the video hashtag below.

2. Timestamp (approximately 500 characters). This is a useful navigation option for inserting video timecode links to different parts of your video. For example, let's say your video is made up of 5 separate "chapters". You can link to each one here so that viewers can quickly navigate to the parts of the video that interest them most.

But how do you generate the actual link? You don`t need to! By simply typing a number in minutes:seconds format, YouTube will automatically hyperlink the text and make it clickable - too easy!

3. About the Channel (approx 500-1,000 chars): This should be a general description of your channel and what kind of content you publish and how often you publish it.

4. Other Recommended Videos / Playlists: (approx 250 chars) Promote some of your other videos or playlists by linking directly to them here and providing a few 1 liners on each to encourage viewers to click-through!

It may make sense to link to videos which you haven`t yet published! This is fine, just leave it out but remember to come back and update this section with the new video links once you`ve published them.
5. Product and company information (approximately 500-1000 characters): Describe what your organization does and what products/services it offers.

7. Contacts and social links (approximately 100-500 characters). Finally, link to your other social media pages and profiles, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more.

Updating the video description of an existing video
Editing video descriptions on existing videos is as easy as editing video titles, tags, and hashtags. However, this action allows YouTube to re-rank the video and update its position in search results based on a combination of the change and previous watch time data received.
This is both good and bad. If your video isn't optimized and doesn't get a lot of searches, updating your video description can improve your search ranking. However, if your video is constantly being viewed, you can prevent this by changing your video description.
